ruffled heart valentine diy

It's the pretty little things that get me. So I made a mini ruffled valentine.

Supplies // 1. Safety pin back, 2. Circle punch (1" shown), 3. Dull pencil, 4. Paper of your choice, chipboard or heavey cardstock

Tools // Scissors, Hot glue gun

Step 1: Punch out plenty of paper circles.

Step 2: Draw and cut out a heart from the chipboard.

Step 3: Using a dull pencil, scrunch the paper circles around the tip of the pencil.

Step 4: Once you have all the circles crinkled, start gluing to the chipboard heart. Start with the outside edge and go around the whole outside.

Step 5: Once you've bordered the heart, continue to fill in the center with glue and paper circles until the whole heart is covered in ruffles.

Step 6: Glue the pin back onto the reverse side of the chipboard heart.

Finish it up with a bit of flattering packaging and now you have a sweet accessory that will surely make someone smitten.

a merry christmas to you

No matter how hard I just can not keep up with life (+ blog). Are the holidays always like this?! Homemade gifts this year felt so much more intensive than expected...cue internal voice that says it will not be this chaos next year.

And so I leave you with this lovely desktop wallpaper that makes me so happy. Time for more traveling, then celebration and relaxing. I promise I will recover and discontinue the neglect. Perhaps I shouldn't commit to posting next week? We will see (chances are slim).

And now I bid you all the love and happiness possible, as you celebrate this blessed season of Christmas. Enjoy all the food, frenzy, and festivties that you possibly can!

paper advent calendar

My favorite {and only} gift so far this year has been this incredible advent calendar...

My sweet and talented friend, Annie, designed and crafted this amazing paper + envelope advent calendar. Full of songs, quotes, verses, and even tiny candles for each week! I've never had a calendar to open and I LOVE it. I look forward to each day and the sweet note to open. Now I'm truly inspired to create one next year for gifts.

There are many amazing advent calendars around the web, have you found a favorite?

pillow cover diy by tie that binds

Happy Monday-that-follows-a-holiday! To kick off the festive season I wanted to feature this holiday DIY by Mekala of Tie That Binds. I'm such a sucker for anything burlap, especially these bold type pillows.

Another thing that makes these fabulous is that you can use any currently owned decorative pillows by making slip covers to dress them up for the season. Find the step-by-step instructions here.

Aren't they so great?! There are also great custom Christmas cards available in her Etsy shop so be sure to check them out if you're looking for a stylish card this year. So glad she let me share with you!

lovely bundle {simple thanks}

If you're looking to spruce up the table with simple items you already own, there could be elegance in using string, mason jars/tealights, perhaps a book centerpiece, and a simple leaf placecard. I love the idea of the string around the table, either as placecards or with items of thanks or blank for guests to write on. Something about the string connecting all that the group is thankful for makes me happy.

Wishing you a stress-free weekend as you prep for the holiday week ahead.

lovely bundle {fall decor}

Is anyone else shocked that tomorrow is October? I love being submerged in fall but feel like it's almost over, as if I've nearly missed it. Above is the fall eye candy that I am currently swooning over. Simple rustic elegance, with a touch of snazzy flair.

Hope you fall into a beautiful autumn weekend!
