gender neutral woodland nursery

My sweet babe is 2 weeks old today! Which is exactly when I started writing this post...as you can guess life has been full of many changes/adjustments. I move at a much slower pace while time seems to move at a much faster pace.

Below are the details of the woodland nursery that all came together just days before the whirlwind birth. I wanted a mix of modern + rustic in a very peaceful space. Here's how it turned out:

Overall we probably spent less than $650 on everything shown here (excluding the books). The tree mural was the big (decor) money saver, but a huge time investment. That wall plus the gilded feathers and woodland critters are my favorite details. I also loved the simplicity of the curtain, which you can find the diy for here (by Lay Baby Lay). If interested in the inspiration/vision behind the room, you can view my woodland Pinterest board. Being gender neutral the biggest challenge was not having everything grey (didn't do too well avoiding this!), and the room is tiny tiny so storage is a constant struggle. One last note, my husband put in a dimmer switch for the light, which I HIGHLY recommend. I do love this little nursery and it is definitely the most serene room in our home.

What do you think of the nursery? Any other ideas you've seen that fit this theme? Please share!

Congratulations! This is so lovely! Did you freehand the birches or did you use a stencil? Can you also share how you did the feather mobile? I would also be interested in the colours of the walls... simply lovely!

@Lucy Thank you so much! I did freehand the birch trees and unfortunately I didn't use a straight color for the gray walls. I had a color I liked, but then just added it to a bucket of white paint. Worst way to paint I know! And I agree I should definitely make a post about the mobile....and hope to find the time. Sorry I'm not much help!

Ever since I have seen these birch trees, I have it in my head that I want to recreate them in our nursery! They are beautiful. Can you tell me a bit more about how you painted them? I'm trying to figure out the best way. Did you use a paintbrush, or a roller, or did you use painter's tape to outline them? I'd love some more details!!! Thanks for the inspiration, I just love what you did!

Oh how I wish you would do a tutorial on your hand painted birch trees. Until this post I had not considered painting them by hand... I've only seen them on Etsy as wall decals. I'd love to know what kind of paint you used, how many coats it took for the white and if you used a brush or rolled it.... etc. It's beautiful. The whole room is so simple and adorable. I love the woodland animals but I wish you could just buy them instead of having to buy the pdf and hand sew them yourself. They are so adorable. What a lovely room. :) I hope you will show us more rooms in your home one day.

I love the wall bookshelves/magazine racks and I thought they were IKEA but I can't find them anywhere on the IKEA website. Would you happen to know the name of them?

so cute! Could you tell me where you got your feathers, especially the white ones. I'm having a hard time
Finding some that aren't too long. Thank you!

Thanks for the tip on the Ikea book shelves! I bought some for our LO's nursery. But I have to know where you got the curtain/valance. I love it!

Where did you buy your tree decals? I love them but can't find any just plain ones.

Thanks,
Krystal
